Oakland Newborn Photographer

If You’ve Ever Wished You Could Freeze Time
And Hold Onto These Tiny People Just As They Are

The newborn days, the toddler years, the chaos and the closeness — these seasons pass faster than anyone warns you, and Oakland newborn photography is how we preserve them before they do.

About Your Oakland Newborn Photographer

Hi, I’m Megan — a Bay Area newborn and family photographer based in nearby Alameda, and a mom of five who understands how quickly family life changes, from the earliest newborn days through every stage that follows.

As a mom of five, I know what it’s like to be in the middle of a season and already feel it slipping away. The way a newborn curls into your chest. The sound of little feet on the floor in the morning. The chaos and the closeness all at once. These are the moments you want to hold onto, and photography is how we do that.

I work with Oakland families for newborn sessions in my Alameda studio or in your home, and for family and maternity sessions at beautiful outdoor locations throughout the East Bay.

Questions About Your Session

Most families reserve their Bay Area newborn photography session during the second or early third trimester to ensure availability around their due date. I schedule newborn sessions approximately one week after your due date and adjust as needed once your baby arrives.

If your baby is already here — or if you’re reaching out later in pregnancy — please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I intentionally leave space in my calendar each month for newborn sessions when possible.

Family and maternity sessions can typically be booked 4–8 weeks in advance, depending on the season. If you’re hoping for a sooner date, reach out and I’ll check availability.

You can learn more about booking a newborn session on my Newborn Photography page.

Newborn, first year, and milestone sessions take place in my Alameda newborn photography studio or in your home. Family and maternity sessions are photographed at outdoor locations throughout the Bay Area.

If you’re unsure which setting is the best fit for your family, I’m always happy to talk through the options and help you decide.

Absolutely. Newborn, family, and maternity sessions are designed to capture connection — and that often includes parents and siblings.

There’s never pressure to participate in every image. During your session, we can photograph a variety of combinations, and at your ordering appointment you’ll decide which portraits feel most meaningful to keep and display.

Newborn sessions typically last 1–2 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing a relaxed variety of images.

Family and maternity sessions usually last about 45–60 minutes and are designed to feel natural and unhurried, while keeping things comfortable for young children.

After your session, we’ll schedule your ordering appointment where you’ll view your curated gallery and choose the collection and artwork that feel right for your family.

I’ll guide you through selecting your favorite portraits and deciding how you’d like them to live in your home — whether through fine art prints, heirloom albums, or custom wall displays. Once your selections are made, I professionally edit the portraits you choose and take care of all product ordering so everything arrives ready to enjoy.

You can learn more about the investment and artwork options on my Investment page.
